Winter preparations are underway at Dilworth Park, and in recent days we’ve learned that there are a slew of new cold-weather attractions planned, including a giant maze designed by Groundswell.
Center City District recently announced that the America’s Garden Capital Maze will take over the patch of grass at Dilworth Park during the winter season as part of a $300,000 grant from the William Penn Foundation. And based on the description, it sounds like it’s going to be one of the most Instagram-friendly spots this winter:
America’s Garden Capital Maze, designed by Groundswell Design Group, for both children and adults, features willow-branch archways, evergreens, trees, perennials, shrubs, and topiary sculptures from 32 area gardens as part of a Maze with colorful winter plantings adorned with twinkling mini-lights.
It’s going to be designed by Groundswell Design Group, the same firm behind other iconic pop-up public spaces like Spruce Street Harbor Park and the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest.
The Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market will also return to Dilworth Park, featuring 35 local vendors. Like the Christmas Village, which will be located in City Hall’s inner courtyard this year, the holiday market will remain open until Christmas Eve.
Dilworth Park Wintergarden will officially open on November 11.
