There is no shortage of golf courses in and around Philly. But rarely does one get to see all of them from up above. That’s possible now thanks to Philly by Air, which spent two months capturing the most beautiful golf courses in the region by drone.
The result is the 50 Most Beautiful Golf Courses list, which was whittled down from more than 150 to 65 to the final 50. Matt Satell, who’s the drone expert behind Philly by Air, explains that his team determined the ranking based on course aesthetics, design, and prestige.
"Philadelphia has so many amazing golf courses, but we wanted to highlight a new perspective of them," Satell tells Curbed Philly. "Aerial photography seemed like the perfect vehicle to do that."
Two golf courses within Philadelphia city limits made the list: the Union League Golf Course at Torresdale (#18) in Northeast Philadelphia and the Bala Golf Club (#44) on Belmont Avenue.
The Wissahickon Valley Club, home to the Philadelphia Cricket Club, is just outside of Chestnut Hill and nabbed the 2nd spot.
