Philly Rent: What $1,400 rents in Philly right now

From a 1BR with soaring ceilings in Brewerytown to a Port Richmond townhouse

Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a dive into the options available for a certain price point in various neighborhoods. Is one person's loft another person’s townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,400/month.

Brewerytown (1 bed, 1 bath)—Fourteen-foot ceilings and 897 square feet are numbers that make this pet-friendly apartment more spacious than a one bedroom may usually feel. There’s finished concrete floors, in-unit laundry, and a fitness center on site. Plus the location puts you close to the park along Kelly Drive, shopping, and not too far from trendy Fairmount.

East Falls (2 beds, 1 bath)—This row house offers two stories to settle into, closet space, and a basement for additional storage. One of the bedrooms looks a little small, and the kitchen has an bit of an awkward layout. But there are perks, like a small deck out back and the train station that’s a block away. Pets welcome.

Point Breeze (3 beds, 2 baths)—This 3rd floor walk-up offers closets and space, and since it’s a corner building, windows brighten most rooms. It’s two blocks to public transit on Broad Street and about two more to brunch at Green Eggs Cafe. No word on pets.

Bella Vista (1 bed, 1 bath)—Here is the priciest place of the week—a loft for $1,425/ month. The corner kitchen is tiny, but there’s a small bar in the nearby living area to make up for lost counter space. Gated parking is included, and it’s an easy walk to the best of South Street. Cats welcome.

Fairmount (1 bed, 1 bath)—This cute condo for rent is right on the tree-lined Green Street and has its own little oasis of a private backyard. It may seem tight on space at 748 square feet, but the open floor plan helps. Bonus: There’s a fireplace next to the French doors that open to the backyard. Pets OK.
