Portrait Artist's Renovated Home With Sunny Studio Asks $650K

New, 3 comments

Today we venture out to the 'burbs to a house in Rydal that once doubled as sort of artist's getaway for famous folks. The 5-bed, 5-bath home is about 40 minutes from Philly and is currently owned by an artist who often hosted musicians and celebrities as she painted their portraits in her sunny studio.
The home, which sits on an acre of land, was originally a Cape Cod. It was expanded and renovated by Philly architect Carl Massara and designer Carl Steele. Now at nearly 5,000-square-feet, the home features plenty of spacious entertaining areas, starting with the massive living area that surely saw some lavish parties.

It features arched doors that open to the backyard patio and heated pool—there's a sauna in the finished basement, too. There's also a working fireplace, and a large archway that connects to the kitchen. The master on this floor was also recently renovated.

Guests stayed in the extra bedroom on the first floor, as well as in the two bedrooms on the second level. They both feature balconies that look out to the backyard.

The asking price of this home at 974 Leopard Street, Rydal is $650,000.
