Philly Rent Comparison: What $1,300 Rents Right Now

From Temple and Overbrook to Powelton, Center City, and Manayunk

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a dive into the options available for a certain price point in various neighborhoods. Is one person's loft another one's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,300/month.

Manayunk (1 bed, 1 bath)—Located at the Station, 1-bedroom units start at $1,310 per month. This unit is pet-friendly for small dogs and cats, and there's a fitness center, club house, and a bike repair shop. If more outdoor space is on your check list, it may help to know that the Station is located right along the Schuylkill River.

Temple (2 beds, 1 bath)—Can't be bothered to buy new furniture? Then good thing this 2-bedroom unit at the Modules at Templetown comes furnished. It claims to be the first green building in the neighborhood, and there's a bike repair station and green roof top for residents.

Powelton (1 bed, 1 bath)—Over in West Philly you can rent a 402-square-foot 1-bedroom unit for $1,309 and live in a historic apartment building that's been recently renovated. The Courts feature a new lobby, an inner courtyard, and a fitness center.

Center City (1 bed, 1 bath)—If location is what you're after, renting a 1-bedroom unit in the Embassy Apartments at 21st and Walnut may be what you need. The 1-bedrooms start at $1,345 and feature hardwood floors, tall ceilings, and lots of light. Bonus: Utilities are included in the rent.

Overbrook (3 beds, 1 bath)—Living in this rowhouse rental will put you close to Cobbs Creek Park and 60th Street Station. Clocking in at 1,114 square feet, the home has been recently upgraded with new hardwood floors on the first level and new carpets in the bedrooms. You also have a front porch and back yard, which with a little TLC has potential.
