We first learned about Awesometown, Post Green Homes' collaborative mixed-income project with the New Kensington Community Development Corporation, way back in 2014. The Fishtown project was groundbreaking in that it was one of the first times that a developer had partnered with a CDC for a sustainable and affordable residential project in the city.
Built in two phases, the first phase of affordable townhomes have sold out by now, but the second phase of market-rate homes are now up for grabs and are expected to be move-in ready this summer.
All of the units feature 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, clocking in at 1,750 square feet. You also have the option to add a two-car garage, terrace, or green roof.
What really makes these homes stand out from others in Fishtown are the green-friendly features. Use of sustainable materials, Energy Star appliances, rain barrels, and green roofs means that average utility costs come in under $110 each month per home. There's also a 10-year tax abatement.
The asking price of this townhome is $419,900.
