Oh boy! A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place today at 5:15 p.m. at the new Target store on 11th and Chestnut. On Wednesday the store will have a soft opening, and the grand opening will be on Sunday, July 24.
This afternoon’s ceremony marks the city’s first and tiniest Target. It’s a "flexible format" version of the store and will be followed by two other Target locations in Philly, including one at 1900 Chestnut and another at Rodin Square.
A walk by the Target at 11th and Chestnut showed employees inside getting ready for the ceremony and soft opening. The 19,000-square-foot store is part of a mixed-use development by Brickstone that will include 112 high-end apartments.
Here’s a look at the back entrance of Target and the apartments on Sansom Street.
