After sitting for two years on the market with a big price tag, the Sylvan Edge Estate in Elkins Park is now under the $1 million club.
The massive 28-room mansion just chopped $100,000 off its asking price, the second reduction in the last year. And, likely to entice more potential buyers to the property, there’s a new video tour that gets up close and personal, showcasing some more of the ornate details of the home that have been restored by the current owner.
The estate was designed by Philly architecture firm Tilden, Register & Pepper for Philadelphia real estate mogul Joseph J. Greenberg in the 1920s. Current owner Dennis Cook has spent the past few years restoring the original details of the 7,468-square-foot property while adding just a few major upgrades, namely in the kitchen.
Sylvan Edge’s restoration is a far cry from its neighbor Lynnewood Hall, which sits on the same street yet has fallen into disrepair.
