Here’s what $1,400 rents in Philly right now

With options in Fishtown, Manayunk, and more

Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a dive into the options available for a certain price point in various Philly neighborhoods. Is one person’s townhouse another’s studio. Let’s find out! This week we’re looking at options renting for $1,400 a month.

West Mt. Airy (4 beds, 1 bath)—To really stretch that $1,400, look to West Mt. Airy. This four-bedroom home is up for grabs, offering a front porch, hardwood floors, and big bay windows. All of the appliances have been updated, too. The catch? Pets are out of the question.

Brewerytown (2 beds, 1 bath)—Heading back toward the city, here’s a two-story rental available in an old church, asking $1,450 a month. The 1,000-square-foot apartment has original details like cathedral ceilings, as well as a spiral staircase and new features like a Bluetooth surround system. No word on pets, though.

Fairmount (2 beds, 1 bath)—Next up is this two-bedroom apartment in a classic Fairmount rowhome asking $1,450 a month in rent. The 1,000-square-foot rental features hardwood floors and built-ins, plus stacked laundry in the kitchen. Cats are welcome roommates, but for an extra $300.

Northern Liberties (1 bed, 1 bath)—Across the city in Northern Liberties is this recently renovated apartment that comes with a deal: You can either pay $1,350 a month with an 18-month lease or $1,425 a month for a traditional 12-month lease. That rents this first-floor unit with all new appliances, plus a walk-in closet and access to a private back patio off the bedroom. Laundry is shared, and both dogs and cats are welcome with an extra deposit.

Fishtown (1 bed, 1.5 baths)—This week’s final stop is Fishtown. This one-bedroom may not look like much right now, but the unit is finishing up a renovation in a time for a new tenant. It’s described a shotgun-style ground-floor unit, with new hardwood floors, an updated bathroom, and a back patio. In total, it’s 1,150 square feet. No word on pets.
