Philly’s first snowfall of December 2017 did not disappoint, dropping about 4.1 inches within city limits and even more in the surrounding region, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday, December 9 saw big and heavy flakes falling from morning to midnight, leaving the Philly covered in a beautiful layer of fresh powder.

In fact, the Saturday snow was a record breaker: The last time it snowed this much on December 9 was in 1942, when Philly recorded 2.9 inches.

It made for some pretty beautiful scenery, captured here in 10 Instagram photos of beloved spots around the city, from City Hall to Rittenhouse Square to Chestnut Hill.
