The Curbed Cup, our annual award for the neighborhood of the year, has entered the second round of the Elite 8! Eight Philly neighborhoods are still in the running to be crowned the Best Neighborhood of the Year. Let the eliminations commence!
Fishtown (1)
After winning the 2016 Curbed Cup as Best Neighborhood of the Year, Fishtown showed no signs of slowing down in 2017. The foodies have stuck around thanks to the plethora of restaurant openings, like the Lebanese Market Suraya, while distillery-turned-eatery Wm. Mulherin’s Sons opened its picture-perfect boutique hotel to rave reviews. Seemingly everyone wants to put down roots in this River Wards neighborhood, even as home prices creep up and up. It’s no wonder Conde Nast Traveler named it Philly’s hottest neighborhood.

East Passyunk
East Passyunk won its first Curbed Cup a few years ago at the height of its restaurant boom, but as one nomination put it, “East Passyunk Avenue is still red hot and always full of surprises.” Its restaurant scene continues to be one of the most touted in the city, and the neighborhood continues to pull in new hot spots like Barcelona Wine Bar. Amid its continued popularity, it maintains those classic South Philly neighborhood community vibes. Says another nomination, “There is more diversity now and a nice mingling of the long-time residents with newer arrivals.”
Will Fishtown or East Passyunk advance to the Final Four? Polls are open for 24 hours!
