Spruce Hill (1 bed, 1 bath)—We begin today’s hunt in Spruce Hill, the leafy neighborhood in West Philly. Located in the Spruce Hill Court complex, this apartment comes with in-unit laundry and is a short walk from neighborhood pubs like Local 44 and University City. The catch: The apartment, asking $1,085, isn’t available until next summer.

Brewerytown (2 beds, 1 bath)—Making our way across the Schuylkill into Brewerytown, you’ll find this recently renovated apartment in a second-floor walkup. The kitchen leaves a bit to be desired (sorry, no dishwasher), but at least restaurants like Flying Fish Crafthouse and Rybrew are nearby.

Francisville (Studio, 1 bath)—In Francisville, this 550-square-foot studio is located in a new apartment building. It offers all of the basic amenities—laundry is shared—and pets are welcome with landlord approval. Parking is available, but the Girard Avenue Station on the Broad Street Line is a quick walk away.

Rittenhouse (Studio, 1 bath)—If location tops size on your list, here’s a studio in Rittenhouse Square asking $1,095 a month. The tiniest rental on this week’s list clocks in at 400 square feet. Storage may be an issue, but there’s a small loft above the kitchen that might help. Cats are welcome, but for an extra $15 a month.
