Rittenhouse Square (1 bedroom, 1 bath)—No surprise that the smallest unit on this list is in ritzy Rittenhouse. But this 537-square-foot apartment was recently renovated from top to bottom, so there’s that. There’s a corner kitchen, what looks like a good-sized, sunny living area, and in-unit laundry. Pets are welcome, and outdoor space is a couple of blocks away at Rittenhouse Square.

Northern Liberties (1 beds, 1 bath)—This Northern Liberties apartment is in the recently renovated TransAtlantic building at 430 Fairmount. It looks like it gets a lot of natural light, and the pet-friendly unit has tall ceilings, whitewashed brick and beams, and in-unit laundry. There’s access to community outdoor space and a gym.

East Kensington (2 beds, 1 bath)—Here’s another sunny apartment for rent, located in a seven-unit new build on Frankford Avenue. It’s spacious at 975 square feet and has two stories: The kitchen and living area are on the lower level and the two bedrooms are on the second story, where the floor-to-ceiling windows continue. There is in-unit laundry.

Roxborough (4 bedrooms, 1.5 baths)—$1,750 still goes far in this leafy, residential neighborhood. The only single-family home on this list rents plenty of space: 1,646 square feet, plus a front porch and a backyard. There’s a lot of character within the home, too, if that’s what you’re looking for. Heads up for commuters: It’s a 17-minute walk to the Manayunk SEPTA station.

Old City (2 beds, 2 baths)—This 2-bedroom unit is right on the edge of the neighborhood and has some of that industrial charm. Like the East Kensington apartment, this is a bi-level unit, with one bedroom on the first floor. The kitchen is a tad tiny—that’s the cost of having a second bathroom—but there’s extra breathing room in the loft space upstairs. Rent is $1,700 a month.
