Sylvan Edge estate in Elkins Park sells for $895K

The 28-room mansion finally found a buyer

The impeccably restored Sylvan Edge estate in Elkins Park has finally found a buyer.

Listing agent Michael Sivel confirmed to Curbed Philly that after two years on the market, home sold for $895,000. It originally listed in 2015 for $1,249,000 and subsequently underwent multiple pricechops.

Who the new owner or owners are is a bit of a mystery, said Sivel. But they now have the keys to a 28-room mansion that was designed by Philly architecture firm Tilden, Register & Pepper for Philadelphia real estate mogul Joseph J. Greenberg in the 1920s.

The most recent owner, Dennis Cook, grew up in the area and had spent years restoring the 7,468-square-foot property’s original architectural details. There are old- and new-world details like a renovated gourmet kitchen coupled with the original servants call switches.

Here’s one more look at the 8-bedroom, 8-bathroom home.
