Will the smaller price tag help the home find a buyer?

After about six months sitting pretty on the market for $2,450,000, the historic John Penn House in Society Hill is now another $200,000 cheaper.

The elegant 7-bedroom, 4.5-bath home first listed in April 2016 for $2,650,000. In January of this year it re-listed for $2.45 million and just yesterday got another price cut, bringing the asking down to $2,250,000.

The 6,500-square-foot property should appeal to history buffs: The site has been home to a long list of dignitaries, including William Penn’s grandson John Penn and it’s right next door to the historic Powel House.

Over the years, the home has maintained its many period details, coupled with dazzling chandeliers and original crown molding.

Perhaps the slight price cut will help the historic property finally find a buyer.
