Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a weekly column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various Philly neighborhoods. Today, we're looking at apartments renting for $1,650 a month.
Center City (1 bed, 1 bath)—You’d be the first to live in this 675-square-foot apartment in Center City West, just a few blocks from Rittenhouse Square. The unit is on the second-floor of a newly-built three-story walk-up. There’s in-unit laundry, modern finishes through, and large floor-to-ceiling windows off the living room. No word on pets.
Powelton (2 beds, 1 bath)—There’s room to spare in this bi-level apartment in Powelton Village. The unit features nice details like a big bay window and fireplace on the first level, and there’s shared laundry in the basement. Sorry, no pets.
Queen Village (2 beds, 1 bath)—At the corner of 2nd and Bainbridge is another two-story apartment, which has a cool loft space and access to a private roof deck. The listing notes that the second bedroom could be the living room, so keep that in mind. Pets are okay with the landlord’s approval, but you’ll have to look elsewhere for laundry.
Kensington (3 beds, 1 bath)—Over in Kensington you can have an entire rowhome to yourself, or split the cost three ways with roommates. Bonus: The whole home has been recently renovated, and there are some nice architectural details like exposed brick and columns in the living area, and refinished hardwood floors. Pets welcome and laundry is included.
Newbold (2 beds, 1 bath)—Up for grabs in Newbold is this 1,023-square-foot home for rent that was built three years ago. The listing claims that monthly utilities are low, and there’s private parking and a roof deck, too. Pets are welcome, with a deposit.
