Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a dive into the options available for a certain price point in various Philly neighborhoods. Is one person’s townhouse another’s studio? Let’s find out! This week’s price point: Around $1,400 a month.
Kensington (1 bed, 1 bath)—For exactly $1,400 a month, here’s an apartment available in the new pet-friendly Schillers by Ampere building in Kensington. Clocking in at 800 square feet, the unit features oak floors, big industrial windows, a dishwasher, and in-unit laundry. There’s also access to a community roof deck. Its location at 2021 N. Front Street puts you a block away from the El.
Pennsport (2 beds, 1 bath)—Also asking $1,400 a month is this pet-friendly 980-square-foot home in Pennsport. Although you’ll have to look elsewhere for in-unit laundry, it comes with the basics: An updated kitchen, a shared bathroom on the second floor, and two good-sized bedrooms. There’s also outdoor space in the back, perfect if you have a fluffy companion.
Rittenhouse (1 bed, 1 bath)—For an extra $50, you can live in the heart of Rittenhouse in this 500-square-foot apartment. Asking $1,450 a month, the unit comes with a junior-sized kitchen, which also has new cabinets. Laundry is shared, and pets are welcome.
West Philly (2 beds, 1 bath)—Details are slim on this unit, but the photos reveal a big apartment filled with character. Top that with the fact that the apartment is located in Cedar Park in a building that looks like a castle and you’re all set. Laundry is shared.
Washington Square West (1 bed, 1 bath)—Rounding out this week’s offerings is this pet-friendly one-bedroom unit at 12th and Spruce. Yes, the teeny-tiny kitchen leaves much to be desired, but hey, there’s in-unit laundry and two fireplaces. Also, the bedroom features built-in bookcases and extra storage.
