What $1,000 rents in Philly right now

New, 1 comment

From West Powelton to Point Breeze

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various Philly neighborhoods. This week, we’re checking out homes at or around $1,000 per month, and it’s a pretty popular price point. From two-bed houses, to comfortable one-bed digs in South Philly, there’s a lot $1,000 can rent.

via Craigslist

Point Breeze (1 bed, 1 bath)—Just off Wharton Square, this one-bed spot on South 24th Street, has hardwood floors, plenty of light, a balcony, and a long wood staircase that leads to the apartment. Of course, with a $1,000 price point there are a few drawbacks; namely, you can’t bring your pets and there’s no laundry on site.

North Philly West (2 bed, 1 bath)—With two beds and nearly 800 square feet, this apartment at 1822 W Diamond St has a lot to offer. On top of the space, it has a washer and dryer in the unit, a sleek, all-white interior, and an open concept floor plan. Plus, it’s a quick walk from Temple University and you can bring pets along.

Craigslist

Mount Airy (1 bed, 1 bath)—This one-bed apartment at 6640 Sprague Street has plenty of light and refinished hardwood floors, as well as a lot of built-in closet space. The whole place has been recently renovated, according to the listing, and it still features some interesting old school Philly details like crown moulding and subway tile in the bathroom.

North Central (1 bed, 1 bath)—It’s listed as a one-bedroom but this spot at 2217 North Broad Street actually has a small den as well. On top of that, it has several other features that are popular on this list, like hardwood floors and a tile bathroom. Bonus: there’s laundry in the building.

Redblock Realty, via Craigslist

West Powelton (2 bed, 1 bath)—This is likely the biggest spot on the list at 424 North Wiota Street. Not only does it have two bedrooms, but it’s also an entire townhouse with two stories and an unfinished basement. The 1,000-square-foot-space offers an eat-in gas kitchen and a small mudroom at the front. There’s even a small backyard area.
