Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a dive into the options available for a certain price point in various Philly neighborhoods. How many beds can you get in Strawberry Mansion versus Passyunk? Let’s find out! Today’s price point: $1,000 a month.
West Philly (1 bed, 1 bath)—There’s usually one West Philly home in our weekly Curbed Comparisons piece, and there’s a reason for that; you can lot of space for a (relatively) low cost there. This place at the popular Cedar Park is no exception. It’s got hardwood floors, cool grey walls, and a surprising amount of light for a one-bed apartment. Plus, it was recently renovated, so residents can enjoy a practically new space.
Strawberry Mansion (3 bed, 1 bath)—When it comes to size, it’s difficult to find a $1,000-a-month home that’s bigger than this one in Strawberry Mansion. It has 1,500 square feet of living space, a cute, brick-laden back patio, and laundry in the unit. Plus, just check out the built-in bedroom vanity.
Center City (Studio, 1 bath)—A stark contrast to the roomy Strawberry Mansion home would be this Center City place. It’s very centrally located (you can’t get much better than the corner of Broad and Locust) but it sacrifices space. The 321-square-foot apartment offers one main room with hardwood floors, a sink, a mini fridge, and one cabinet. But what it lacks for in space, it might make up for in amenities, including a 24-hour desk attendant, fitness center and laundry. Plus, thankfully, central air.
South Philly (Studio, 1 bath)—Another studio on this list is situated in the increasingly popular Passyunk Square area. The 310-square-foot space not available quite yet—it’ll be ready in September—but it’s worth a look beforehand. It’s got sleek hardwood floors, plenty of counter space, and a back patio.
Fishtown (Studio, 1 bath)—The final option on this week’s list is—yes, another—studio place. But it’s got some cool features, starting with plenty of light, hardwood floors, granite countertops and an outdoor patio. Plus there’s a dishwasher i the unit and laundry in the building.
Which $1,000 place would you pick?
