Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various Philly neighborhoods. This week, we’re checking out homes at or around $900 a month, and there’s a surprising number of places that offer a lot of space—from one to two bed homes in some great locations.

University City (1 bed, 1 bath)—There are several draws to this apartment, located in a renovated house on 44th and Pine. First, there’s the curb appeal: it’s on one of the stunning tree-lined streets that West Philly is known for, and its hard to beat that orange and blue painted exterior. But it also has an enviable location, being just a quick walk from UPenn and Clark Park. Plus, with hardwood floors and a large bay window, it’s bright and cheery.

Point Breeze (2 bed, 1 bath)—Tucked a few blocks off the increasingly popular West Passyunk, this apartment at 2023 South 20th Street offers plenty of windows, wall unit AC, and hardwood floors in the halls. There’s only a kitchenette, rather than a full kitchen, but the apartment makes up for it with two full sized bedrooms.

Ludlow (2 bed, 2 bath)—This Temple-area apartment at 1720 N Marshall Street is newly renovated, and it shows. There’s hardwood flooring throughout, a ceramic kitchen with granite countertops, a patio outside, and laundry in the basement. Plus, it’s within walking distance from the university.

Frankford (2 bed, 1 bath)—At nearly 1,000 square feet, this 3934 Coral Street apartment is one of the largest on this list. The apartment, which was recently renovated, has hardwood floors, granite countertops, plenty of light, and a brand new bathroom and kitchen (the latter appears to be divided into two rooms). Plus, there’s central air and laundry in the building.

Feltonville (2 bed, 1 bath)—This apartment at 176 Thelma Street is yet another renovated spot on this week’s list, and—like its Coral Street counterpart (above)—it offers nearly 1,000 square feet of space. The apartment has new floors, granite countertops, and a brand new kitchen with new appliances. Plus, there’s laundry in unit.
