After nearly three years of lying empty, the site of the once-popular Midtown II diner is slated to become a high-rise hotel, according to reports.
The former diner, located at the corner of 11th and Sansom, will be turned into a 14-story hotel with 86 rooms and ground floor and second floor restaurants, WHYY reported. The building was a 24-hour diner for nearly 40 years, until it closed in 2016 due to a bankruptcy settlement, the Philly Business Journal reported at the time.
The diner’s sister site, Midtown III, is still open and operating at 18th and Market.
