Mapping Shay the alpaca sightings during the DNC

View as Map

Forget the DNC donkeys—Shay the alpaca was the true star of the Democratic National Convention here in Philadelphia. This fluffy animal made her rounds through the city this week with owner Ethan Abbott, a farming activist who has traveled with Shay throughout the country to protest against corporate culture.

Even the Philadelphia Police Department fell for Shay, officially identifying her as an alpaca—not, as some people thought, a llama. Shay made her way up and down Broad Street, cooled off in a puddle of water at Thomas Paine Plaza, even joined groups of protestors outside of the Wells Fargo Center.

The alpaca was such a social media hit she was almost a real-life version of Pokemon Go. We tracked as many sightings as we could confirm here. Know of another Shay spotting? Leave a comment!
